Day 24 and I became a volunteer with the ‘Beith Trust Family’ starting tomorrow!

So the day started with a coffee and some more hot banana bread and Craig is probably pleased to see I’m in a slightly better frame of mind than yesterday 😬 he did say “right, you are going back to getting your steps up today!” which I assume means he think it will help improve my mood… 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄

Off we go o. Our walk and had a lovely chat to my walking buddy Auntie Jac along the way. Never met any dodgy strangers like I did yesterday
Almost let them off to run in a muck spread field….. just noticed the stink at the last minute… howffing 🥴
It was a lovely day down here!
Craigie was well on with the house paint by the time I got back (result!)
Man at work again (he’s a keeper eh!)
Still at it… had to take the rose down.
Looking so good, we love it. Lots of tidying up to do and the facing boards still to be painted but we’re knackered and honestly some have more reason to be knackered than others 🤔😬🙄
While he was on the painting I decided to tackle the BBQ as we haven’t used it for at least a year and we were pretty poor at looking after it. Our OB pal Warren would have a fit if he saw the state this was in as he’s the king of a clean BBQ!!!
It’s come up pretty good and one of the next jobs is to get it built in at the back of the house. When the paint dries… 🤣
Meanwhile the pups are just enjoying the sun
Please give me some of your lunch??
No, I want it!!
Leo next door, the lumberjack pup!

So I got a call from the Beith Trust to ask about my application so told her why I’m no longer working and that I’d like to give something back. So every Friday I will help with food bank deliveries in Gateside and Barmill and I have to complete an application and be interviewed for a befriender which just means calling people who are lonely and can’t get out. So we’ll see how that goes. She hadn’t heard of the NHS First responder thing so I filled her in about that but I reckon we’re not getting used in this area because they have an established volunteer service through the Beith Trust.

In Virus news another 861 deaths in UK hospitals but this still doesn’t include those dying at home or in care homes. That’s taken our total past 13,000 people. Captain Tom Moore has finally stopped walking around his garden having raised £14 million for the NHS.

We’ve also been told that our current lockdown will continue for another 3 weeks. I forgot to say yesterday that Craig listens to James O’Brien on LBC radio and yesterday one of the callers was distraught as he was scared to go out and didn’t know how long he could go on cooped up. He’s been out and people had made fun of him he sounded so sad, so upset and just couldn’t make any sense of this and not being able to see his mum. He was crying while he tried to speak and it reminded me how bad last year was for me and how hopeless it all felt at times. It broke my heart to listen to him. It made me realise how far I had come. I burst into tears as soon as he went off air, I haven’t cried in ages but my heart went out to him.

Craig made us fish a chips tonight! A lockdown chippy!! Was sooooo good!

House looking great and can’t believe how well the bbq cleaned up. Fish n chips looked tasty. Chip shop onions too? Ah well can’t have it all. Douglas weeded garden this afternoon while I tackled the upstairs of house. Looks like good weather tomorrow. Have a great day and give Calaidh, Bhruic and Freya a hug from Gran and Grampa. 💕
